On Friday the first day of the summit, to his surprise Premier Kosygin played the crowd, shaking hands, lifting children, enjoying the atmosphere of beautiful South Jersey. The people of Glassboro did a magnificent job preparing for the summit, a monumental effort to prepare Hollybush Mansion with air conditioning, craftsmen replace carpets and drapes. The people at the time wanted something to come from this summit. It was not planned to meet the second afternoon, and Leo McCabe thinks that has something to do with the generosity and environment of Glassboro citizens at the time. Leo McCabe recalls how the Summit was chosen to take place in Glassboro, New Jersey.
